Apple has put a pause on an AI feature which summarises news articles into bullet points which appear on the notification screen of iPhone users.

This follows a complaint by the BBC in December, saying the tech giant's feature generated inaccurate and misleading headlines.

There were also reports of fake headlines created for other news outlets like the New York Times and the Washington Post.

In one case, it wrongly reported that Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu had been arrested.
